April brings torrential showers of titillating pop hits with a strong chance of Puerto Rican music sensations. Our new music remixes this month run the gamut, with music from relative newcomer Billie Eilish to comeback kids the Jonas Brothers. We’ve taken the newest radio hits and transformed them into high-energy fitness anthems, whether your taste leans country, pop, or reggaeton. Check out this small sample of April’s Power Music remixes:
“Sucker” is the Jonas Brothers’ first single together in six years, and it was an immediate hit, debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in March. The song was made all the more worthwhile with the music video, featuring the brothers and their significant others cavorting about Hatfield House in lavish couture. Our remix of the song preserves the harmonies and catchy beat, but adds a pumping bass and amps up the energy to 130 BPM.
Billie Eilish’s unique brand of “atmospheric, weirdo pop” as described by Uproxx has swept the nation and given Generation Z a distinct voice. “bury a friend” was released in January as a single off her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The minimalist electronica track has lyrics alluding to monsters under the bed, drowning, and stepping on glass, making it a surprising choice for a fitness soundtrack, but with a little tweaking from our music producers, the song provides the perfect motivation for running from your nightmares.
After years of focusing on acting, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Pedro Capó returned to music with the release of “Calma” in July 2018. The song topped charts across Latin America and became even more popular upon the release of the remix featuring Farruko. Our remix transforms the relatively laidback original into the perfect track for step, cycle, and Latin dance.
Grande made history when this song reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100, making Grande the first artist since the Beatles in 1964 to simultaneously monopolize all three top spots on the chart. Although the lyrics of the song imply Grande is trying to steal someone’s boyfriend, the music video suggests she’s actually after the girlfriend. Our remix takes the original song and adds delightfully repetitive beats perfect for kickboxing and music breakdowns ideal for a sports conditioning class.
Written about his wife whom he’s known since the second grade, this classic country song by Thomas Rhett plays well with all ages. Our remix amps up the sugary, relaxed original, making it perfect for step, barre, and senior classes.
“Con Calma” is a modern remake of “Informer,” the 1992 single by one of Daddy Yankee’s childhood idols, Canadian rapper Snow. Daddy Yankee persuaded Snow to be on the record, describing the situation as "a Canadian and a Puerto Rican making Jamaican music, two pioneers, two people pushing the cultures.” The result is a merging of the music of Daddy Yankee’s teen years with the sound of today. Our remix takes the already high-energy original and supercharges it into a rapid-fire bounce track suited for kickboxing, step, and strength training.
And there you have it! We hope you use this downpour of musical motivation to grow your muscles of May and achieve all of your spring fitness goals.
